Dixie was rescued from living in a cage.  BFAR is determined to let her have the best life possible in the years left to her!

 She had been caged so long she did not have any idea what to do outside of her cage, bless her.  Her teeth were in a terrible state and her anxiety caused her to gnaw a sore into her own leg, which is now healed.  She is learning to run about and go in and out of doors.  Dixie gets along with other dogs and has had them around all her life, though she can be a right bossy boots at times and might do best with male companion dog about her size.  Our vet has identified high liver enzymes indicating a possible cancer but we are determined to give her time to run and enjoy life in a home environment.  Due to her caging Dixie has not mastered the art of housetraining and needs to be watched like a hawk by someone who is home most of the time.
